Board Member - Edgar Aguirre
Edgar Aguirre is currently Director of Development for the Mexican American Alumni Association (MAAA) and Scholarship Initiatives at Loyola Marymount University. His main responsibility is cultivating and stewarding donors interested in establishing scholarship funds at LMU, including successful growth and expansion of the MAAA program that awards approximately $500,000 per year in scholarships to deserving Latino students. He also coordinates efforts in all areas that affect major gift fundraising, including the recruitment, management and development of the major gifts volunteer board for MAAA.
Prior to joining LMU in August 2009, Edgar was Gift Planning Officer at the California Community Foundation. Beginning in August 2004, he specialized in enabling high‐net‐worth individuals to identify and establish appropriate charitable vehicles for their philanthropy, resulting in over $20 million in gifts. From 2001 to 2004, he was a Program Associate with the foundation, a member of the team responsible for a grant making budget of over $10 million per year to benefit Los Angeles County based charitable organizations.
Edgar currently serves on the board of directors for the California Hispanic Corporate Leadership Institute. He is the former Chair of the southern California membership chapter of Hispanics in Philanthropy. He also served on the California Lutheran University Alumni Board of Directors, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Political Science in 1999. He is a Jesse M. Unruh California State Assembly Fellow, and completed his Master of Public Administration degree as a Dean’s Merit Scholar from the School of Policy, Planning, and Development at the University of Southern California in 2005.
Edgar resides in Van Nuys with his wife Siana‐Lea. They have been married for over 9 years. He enjoys running, tennis, and beer making during his free time.
