"Building a Path to a Successful Career"
Ambassador Gaddi Vasquez, SVP Public Affairs, Southern California Edison

Over 60 CHCCLI members and guests had a rare opportunity to hear first hand from Ambassador Gaddi Vasquez, currently serving as the Senior Vice President Public Affairs, Southern California Edison, as he shared his diverse career experiences.

Humble Beginnings

Gaddi’s humble beginnings as the son of migrant farm workers, allowed him to see the value and importance of education and a strong work ethic in building a successful career.

Defining Moments

As Gaddi reflected on his career, he shared the “defining moments” of his life, and challenged the audience to reflect on their lives to identify their own defining moments so that these moments can be valued and shared with others.

Mentors

Mentors have been a key success factor in many leaders’ careers, Gaddi’s mentors started as early as the 7th grade, when his teacher challenged him to be part of the speech team and set the foundation for him to become an oratory champion. Other mentors include trail blazer Congressman Edward Roybal and Governor George Deukmejian.

Be A Participant

There are two types of people in life, spectators and participants.  Participants get involved and make things happen.

Life Purpose

Finding your life purpose is the key to happiness and fulfillment. We all have gifts and talents to contribute and if we make a difference in even one person’s life we can leave a mark.

Servant Leaders

Before we can lead, we have to be willing to serve. Gaddi remembers that “To whom much is given, much is required” and service sets the foundation for impactful leadership.

Friendships

We all lead busy lives; however, making time for friends and family is important. Don’t have any regrets; make time for the important people in your life.
